Planning + Development

Planning + Development
With the onset of larger and more complex projects, in 2007 DJA recognized the value of expanding the scope of our services to include the areas of planning, urban design and development. Our region and the nation as a whole are experiencing a shift in market demand for neighborhoods and communities that go beyond the traditional suburban pattern of development. As designers we have the opportunity to lead development projects in a direction that focuses on quality rather than quantity, underscored by sustainability, livability and social engagement, all occurring within a healthy environment that exploits the unique natural characteristics of an area. Furthermore, the desire of residents to live in closer proximity to commercial services, civic activities and public transportation has reestablished the notion of living in or near downtown and in more pedestrian-oriented environments.

As a result, in 2008 DJA formed a new planning and development branch of the firm. The introduction of sustainable community planning, urban design and development into the scope of DJA services has greatly enhanced the depth of offerings to our clients. The services provided by the new branch function to cover all aspects related to the residential, commercial and mixed-use real estate processes with a mission to promote smart growth and sustainability. Ultimately, these concerted services will provide substantial cost savings to a client by retaining greater decision-making control through an integrated process and resulting in greater efficiency.
